Cricket holds a unique power in Pakistan; one that transcends all boundaries. We have wanted to launch the PSL for a long time now. Finally, all of the pieces in the puzzle are coming together. The League became the talk of the town and invited great interest from cricket fans across the world. It was heartening to see the level of excitement that HBL PSL managed to create in season one; a great achievement for a tournament taking place away from home in its inaugural season.
I have no doubt that this is going to be a great addition to Pakistan Cricket. The benefits for our cricketers will be immense in terms of exposure to top quality cricket. I am particularly pleased by the ground-breaking impact of the first edition, which not only reignited a massive interest in cricket by the new generation, but also kick-started an extensive talent-hunt programmes by our franchises giving rise to the future of Pakistani cricket. The Management has been working immensely hard to bring quality players and vital partners that have joined hands to bring back quality cricket back to Pakistan. I am sure that the fans will proudly own the HBL PSL. The first edition of the League set great milestones and people will look back at this edition and be able to chroniclea great journey.
