Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Tehran carrying messages from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, as tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East.
Speaking to media after arriving in the Iranian capital, Naqvi said he would deliver a “special letter” from Field Marshal Asim Munir to the Iranian leadership, along with a message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the evolving regional situation.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions following recent US military strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar installations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
In response, Iran launched attacks targeting US military bases in Gulf states, including Kuwait and Bahrain, raising concerns of a broader regional confrontation.
Naqvi arrived in Tehran late Saturday and is expected to hold consultations with senior Iranian officials on the rapidly developing security situation and matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan has consistently called for restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation in the region, warning that continued hostilities could undermine regional peace and stability.
