The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested Patwari Rana Zulfiqar, involved in a fraud of Rs 40 million with an overseas Pakistani, from Gujranwala and Abid Ali Langah for transferring property of his deceased brother worth Rs 200 million on bogus documents in his name from Lahore.
This was informed by Additional Director General ACE Punjab Nadeem Sarwar while briefing to media persons, Tuesday. Sarwar stated that complaints of overseas Pakistanis are being solved on priority basis according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab and 18 complaints out of 45, received during last two years have been solved while 15 would be settled by the end of the current month.
The accused Patwari Rana Zulfiqar committed a fraud of worth Rs 40 million with Dr Shahzad Malik, an overseas Pakistani, in connivance to other persons. He received an amount of Rs 40 million for purchase of land and identified state land at Emanabad in lieu of amount received. An amount Rs 2.1 million was recovered from an accomplice of the accused which was handed over to the complainant while the remaining amount would be recovered from the accused.
He added that the ACE is setting up separate desk for redressal of overseas Pakistanis during current month which would be directly monitored by DG ACE Brigadier Muzaffar Ali Ranjha (retd). The accused Abid Ali Langah has been arrested for transferring property of his deceased brother worth Rs 200 million. The accused managed to transfer the property after the death of his brother on bogus documents and expelled his sister-in-law, nephews and nieces from their inherited house.
While responding a question, Sarwar said that former Director PFA Ayesha Mumtaz did tremendous job during her posting and not a single complaint against her is pending with the ACE. He also clarified that government employees, attached with Ayesha Mumtaz, did illegal act in their personal capacity and they are facing so.
The ACE Punjab is working independently and holding inquiries impartially that is why some officers holding senior position have also been arrested during last days. Investigation officer of ACE are being trained professionally to increase number of convictions in cases and ACE would be more efficient and vibrant in coming days as compare to other government departments, he added.
