"We are considering establishment of a Provincial Curriculum Authority," saidProvincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar. He said in a meeting with Shazad Roy, founder of Zindagi Trust, that responsibilities for education and health lie with the government but the importance of the private sector in promotion of education and health cannot be overlooked.
He suggested that the curriculum should be project base so that students are able to cope with future circumstances for in practical life, for which purpose the education department of Sindh has taken many reputed institutions on board. He was sure that receiving education is the fundamental right of each child and to ensure this right is the responsibility of the state.
Lauding the role of NGOs in promotion of education, the minister urged them to come forward and cooperate with the government to spread education in every part of Sindh. "It is the need of the hour." The founder of Zindagi Trust informed the minister that his trust was interested in launching a training programme for teachers of public schools because teachers played a key role in uplift of educational institutions.
Shazad Roy told the meeting that its NGO will provide training to 60 teachers in the first phase and its scope will gradually be enhanced. Teachers' training institutions will also be made better, he added. Secretary Education Schools Mustafa Jamal Syed, Additional Secretary Muhammad Soho and other officers were also present on this occasion.
