Prices of essential kitchen items registered a slight increase during the past week as compared to preceding week, according to a survey conducted byBusiness Recorder on Saturday. According to details, the prices of most of the kitchen items including tomatoes, onion, garlic and ginger went up in the wholesale market as well as in the retail market, while prices of sugar and tea remained stable at Rs 3,100 per 50kg bag and Rs 760 per kg respectively.
Tomatoes price went up from Rs 180 to Rs 200 per 5 kg in the wholesale market and they are being sold at Rs 50 against Rs 45 per kg in the retail market. The price of best quality onion has increased from Rs 150 to Rs 170 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 40 per kg in the retail market. The price of potatoes went up from Rs 100 to Rs 110 per 5kg in the wholesale market and it is being available at Rs 25 per kg in the retail market.
Ginger price in the wholesale market went up from Rs 450 to Rs 500 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 120 against Rs 100 per kg in the retail market; garlic price went up from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,400 per 5kg in the wholesale market and it is being sold at Rs 320 per kg in the retail market. The price of lemon was found stable at Rs 250 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 70 per kg in the retail market.
During the week under review, price of chicken witnessed no significant change as live chicken is being available at Rs 4,400 per 40kg in the wholesale market and it is being sold at Rs 115 per kg in retail market. Different qualities of fish are being available in the range of Rs 180 to Rs 350 per kg.
The price of egg witnessed no change in wholesale and retail markets which in wholesale market is being available at Rs 110 per dozen and in retail market at Rs 120 per dozen. Wheat flour price remained also stable at Rs 760 per 20kg bag.
No change was witnessed in Brinjal price which is being available at Rs 200 per 5kg in wholesale market while in retail market it is being available at Rs 45-50 per kg, carrot price witnessed no change and is being available at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesale market, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Cucumber is being available at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 50 per kg, a pack of 8kg radish in wholesale market is being available at Rs 100 against Rs 80, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 15 per kg.
Peas in wholesale market are available at Rs 250 per 5kg against Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market are being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, kadu prices went down from Rs 280 to Rs 250 per 5kg in wholesale market while in retail is still being sold at Rs 65 per kg. Kareela price didn't change and it is being available at Rs 350 per 5kg in the whole sale market while in retail market, it is being sold at Rs 85 per kg. Arvi is being available at Rs 300 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 75 per kg.
No change was observed in cauliflower and cabbage prices as both are being sold at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesale market while at Rs 25 per kg in the retail market. Capsicum price went up from Rs 275 to Rs 300 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 70 per kg. Beans price in wholesale market went up by Rs 50 per 5kg from Rs 150 to Rs 200, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda per 5kg tin is being available at Rs 850, while normal ghee/cooking oil like Phool and Fauji brands are being available at Rs 130 per kg.
No change in the prices of other essential kitchen items including rice, pulses, spices, milk and salt was witnessed. LPG is being sold at Rs 115 per kg and a domestic LPG cylinder of 15kg is being available at Rs 1,550 per cylinder.
Prices of most of the fruits during the week under review witnessed a declining trend as good quality Indian banana is being sold at Rs 125 per dozen against Rs 140 per dozen, best quality local banana is being available at Rs 80 per dozen while normal quality bananas are being available at Rs 50 per dozen.
Different types of oranges are being sold in the range of Rs 60 to Rs 180 per dozen with Shakari at Rs 180 per dozen and Kinow at Rs 50 per dozen, pomegranates with a reduction in prices are being available at Rs 120-175 per kg against Rs 150-200 per kg, guava is being sold at Rs 50-80 per kg, apples are being sold in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 180 per kg. Likewise, good quality grapes are being sold at Rs 180 per kg.
