The criminal elements continue to rule the roost in the federal Capital as they struck at 19 different places during the last seven days and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees. According to the statistics collected byBusiness Recorder here on Saturday, purse snatchers struck at 10 different places.
The armed robbers and dacoits looted nine houses and shops at gunpoint, despite presence of hundreds of police pickets in the city, besides patrolling by Eagle Squad of Islamabad police. During the last week, purse snatchers and robbers remained active in the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Ramna and Sihala police stations.
Sabzi Mandi police station registered one case of robbery and two cases of purse snatching. Arshad Mehmmod of sector I-10/2 filed a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that unknown robbers had stolen gold ornaments and cash from his house. A victim Suliman Sarwar informed Sabzi Mandi police station that two unknown robbers, riding a motorbike, snatched mobile phone from him at I-10 Markaz, Islamabad.
In another incident, one Waqar Aslam informed the same police station that two undefined purse snatchers riding a bike snatched his mobile phone and purse containing cash at sector I-10/1. Ramna police station registered one case each of robbery, purse snatching and dishonoured cheque. One Aqib Akhtar filed a complaint with Ramna police station that unknown robbers stole three mobile phones from his mobile shop located at sector G-11 Markaz.
Another local Sultan Ahmad informed Ramna police station that unknown people stole purse containing three mobile phones and cash of his wife while she was busy shopping. During the last week, Sihala police station registered two cases of robbery. One Muhammad Azhar-ul-Haq of DHA Phase-II filed a complaint with Sihala police station that unknown robbers stole cash and gold ornaments from his house.
Separately, robbers stormed into one Zafar Iqbal's house located at DHA Phase-II and looted prize bond, gold ornaments and a 30-bore licensed pistol. Aabpara police station registered one case each of purse snatching and auto theft, and three other cases of motor vehicle theft. One Muhammad Shahid Iqbal lodged a complaint with Aabpara police station that two unknown persons snatched mobile phone and cash from him at Shakarparian. Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration LHV-2581 of one Hamad Raza from sector G-7/2.
During the last week, Bani Gala police station registered two cases of robbery. One Taimur Ali lodged a complaint with Bani Gala police station that unknown robbers stole five mobile phones, cash and watches from his house. Another victim Muhammad Naveed Baig of Nomal filed a complaint with Bani Gala police station that unidentified robbers stole batteries and oil from his shop.
During the period under review, Lohi Bher, Khanna and Tarnol police stations registered one case each of robbery. Margalla, Noon and Shalimar police stations registered one case each of purse snatching. Golra and Koral police stations registered one case each of kidnapping of women for rape.
