Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a 'mass-contact' drive across the province. This was stated by PPP provincial president, Engr Hamayun Khan while addressing a worker convention, held at residence of former minister, and PPP leader Iftikhar Khan Jhagra here on Saturday. On the occasion, Senator Khanzada Khan, former governor, Masood Kausar, former provincial president, Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Kiramtullah Khan, Israr Nahqi, Azam Afridi, Misbahuddin, Muhim Afridi, Noor Sehr, and PPP youth leaders were present.
Hamayun Khan said in statement that a mass-contact drive has been launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would conduct interviews of divisional presidents and other office bearers. He said the notification will be issued in this respect later.
PPP president said the ideological workers and well-suited people will be brought to forefront to strengthen the party on solid footing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as establishment of a strong set-up before the next general elections. He said the county was made inevitable by PPP, but conspiracy hatched to eliminate the party through various tactics. However, he said PPP chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had saved the party from all conspiracies, and restored democracy in the country.
Taking the credit of the multi-billion dollars, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project, Engr Hamayun said that now-a-days, leaders are making tall claims before the masses, regarding CPEC. But, he said PPP had initiated the economic corridor project earlier. Therefore, he asked the PPP workers not to be disappointed and ensure their full participation in the party activities across the province. He hoped that PPP will re-emerge as strong political force, across the country as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa very soon.
PPP leader criticized that the incumbent provincial government was rejected by masses due to its poor performance during last four year rule in the province. He rejected the reports about differences in the party, saying that workers are united to strengthen the party across the province. In this connection, he said that a mass-contact campaign had already been launched in KP, saying that party will soon announce organisations at lower level. The convention was also addressed by former minister, Iftikhar Khan Jhagra, former president Zahir Ali Shah, Masood Kausar and others.
