To express solidarity with Kashmiris in their fight for freedom, activists of various political parties, and religious groups in provincial metropolis on Saturday took-out a rally. The rally led by Jamaat-ud-Dawa initiated from Saddar bazzar and moved towards Peshawar Press Club, where they at a gathering announced support for the right of Kashmiri people to self-determination and independence from the illegal Indian occupation.
They also protested the recent house arrest of Hafiz Saeed, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief, by the incumbent government and termed the arrest as to get pleasure of Kashmiri peoples' killer India. The protest rally led by Difa-e-Pakistan Council and Jamaat-ud-Dawa central and provincial leaders, participants were carrying placards, banners inscribed with slogans against Indian atrocities upon innocent Kashmiri people. The participants amid wavering national flags also shouted full-throated slogans like 'Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan' and 'We are with Kashmiris in their freedom struggle' and for the freedom of Kashmiris from Indian occupation.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Difa-e-Pakistan Council and Jamaat-ud-Dawa central leader Professor Hafiz Abdur Rehman Makki, Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam -Samiul Haq group central leader Maulana Yousaf Shah, Hadiat-ul-Hadi Pakistan chairman Syed Haroon Ali Gillani, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA and Advisor to chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Arif Yousaf, Qaumi Watan Party vice president Ghulam Rasool, chairman of the Nazria Pakistan Rabita Council Qari Muhammad Yaqoob Shaikh, central leader of the Freedom Movement Jammu and Kashmir Maulana Nasar Javed, JuD provincial leader Mufti Muhammad Qasim, Peshawar Zone responsible Muhammad Yawar and Ahl-Hadith nazim-e-aala Muhammad Idrees Khalil addressed the gathering.
Hafiz Abdur Rehman Makki of JuD said that Kashmiri people for the last six months have been expedited their struggle for their freedom from Indian occupation. He vowed that Kashmiri people will soon get freedom from Indian atrocities as Kashmiri youth rendering sacrifices of their lives. He also condemned the house arrest of JuD chief Hafiz Saeed and termed the action as for the pleasure of Indian government, adding but Hafiz Saeed is not mere the name of a person rather the name of an ideology, which couldn't be suppressed with such acts.
The political parties' leaders also criticized the United Nations and world leaders for failing to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute. They said Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan and that nobody could separate it from Pakistan.
The speakers called for the resolution of Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions as well as the aspirations of Kashmiri people. "Kashmiris should be given the right to self-determination in light of the UN Security Council resolutions, they said. They also vowed that Pakistanis would continue supporting Kashmiris in their struggle for the right to self-determination. The participants said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people would not go to waste and that their mission for freedom would be accomplished soon.
The JuD leaders particularly and other political parties' leaders also announced to hold rallies, conferences and seminars on "Kashmir Solidarity Day- February 5" across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.
