Monthly securities registrar fee of NSB: provincial taxes applicable on payment, CDNS seeks clarification
Central Directorate of National Saving (CDNS) has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to clarify whether provincial taxes are applicable on payment of monthly securities registrar fee of National Savings Bonds of 10 years maturity. According to a communiqué of the CDNS Islamabad to the FBR, Central Directorate of National Savings is an attached department of Finance Division and responsible for selling government debt securities under the umbrella of national savings schemes for general public. One of the CDNS products is enlisted in Pakistan Stock Exchange and Central Depository Company (CDC) is the trusty of this product, namely National Savings Bond (NSB).
The CDNS is a member of the CDC and pays the monthly securities bills on account of monthly securities registrar services fee of National Savings Bonds of 10 years maturity.
The CDC charges miscellanies expenses to the CDNS for different services of trusty being delivered to the investors of National Savings Bond (NSB). Now, they have submitted a bill alongwith Sindh Sales Tax @13% on payment of monthly securities registrar fee of National Savings Bonds of 10 years maturity. The FBR is requested to provide an opinion whether or not provincial levy of taxes are applicable on the federal government under any law of land for further necessary action please, the CDNS communiqué added.
