Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Wednesday reiterated that accountability of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is need of the hour as this is the only way out to strengthen democracy in the country. Presiding over a meeting of his party parliamentarians, he said that 'history of lies' by Sharifs will soon meet its fate as the hearing in the Panamagate case is entering its final stage.
"The accountability of the Prime Minister in front of judiciary, Parliament and masses is needed the most as this is the only thing which will strengthen the [democratic] system," he added.
He claimed that Nawaz Sharif is making all-out efforts to escape the wrath of law, but the day is not far away when he will be held accountable for what he had done with this country as the Panama Leaks case is a defining moment in the history of the country.
He alleged that by telling lie on the floor of the Parliament, Nawaz Sharif misled the nation, which makes him disqualified to hold any public office as misusing the platform of Parliament for hiding the corruption of his family is unacceptable.
The PTI leadership was of the view that Sharif family has been badly stuck in the Panama Leaks case and the contradictory statements and change in stance everyday is testimony how afraid they are to face the wrath of the law.
The PTI leadership also took stock of the situation, especially the ministers' tenor while addressing press conferences after attending the hearing in the Panama Leaks case in the Supreme Court.
They alleged that the ruling government is planning to attack the courts, saying the PML-N has a history of attacking the judiciary and this time again they might opt for a misadventure if the apex court delivers verdict against them in Panamagate case.
The meeting accused Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique of launching a malicious campaign again the apex court judges, adding the PTI will not allow anybody to malign the judiciary.
The party also noted that the Prime Minister had to face embarrassment at World Economic Forum (WEF) in Devos when he was not allowed to speak there, which shows that stories of his family's corruption are spread all over the globe.
