The Sindh Home Department has issued a threat alert, claiming that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has given his South African Syndicate Cell the task to target Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar and MQM-Pakistan leadership.
According to the threat alert issued to police and intelligence agencies on January 21, the South African Syndicate Cell has been tasked to conduct terrorist activities against MQM Pakistan leadership with a view to disturb the peaceful environment of Karachi and discredit LEAs particularly Rangers.
Mayor Karachi, is the prime target, it warned.
It further said that the mayor has been requested to adopt necessary security measures for his protection as well as restrict/avoid predictability of the movement and activities to prevent any untoward incident.
