The Senior Vice President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) Turab Ali Khoja has expressed reservations over the performance of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) adding that the civic activities have been disrupted due to hours long power suspension in the second largest city of Sindh.
Ali Khoja said that eight to ten hours long power suspension from feeders is badly affecting the business activities while due to closure of factories the unemployment is on rise.
He said that despite the paid demand notes, the electric meters were not being installed to payees which encourage the trend of 'kunda culture' that in turn increase line losses. The outstanding dues of HESCO are piling up as a result of over billing and issuance of detection bills while HESCO management has introduced a new trend of removing the power transformers on charge of non payment of outstanding dues by few defaulters in different parts of Latifabad, he said and added that this act of HESCO is great injustice to those customers who are paying regular electricity bills but their homes go in dark due to non payment of bills by few defaulters.
The HCCI Senior Vice President called upon the HESCO management to improve the recovery system instead of removing the power transformers in the areas at the cost of few defaulters. He demanded the appointment of capable officers as Superintending HESCO Engineer Circle-I and Executive Engineer HESCO Operation Division Latifabad as according to him the existing officers on these posts have no experience of resolving the issues and dealing customer complaints on time. He said that HCCI and HESCO have enjoyed good relations with confidence upon each other, but the present circumstances of unfriendly attitude is creating gulf between the two.
