Chairman, Mehboob Medical Institute and Habib Physiotherapy Complex Hayatabad Dr Mehboob Ur Rehman here on Sunday said that the special children make up 15 percent of the total population of the country and ignoring them in providing knowledge based education has no justification. Dr Mehboob Ur Rehman, who is running a model school established only for the provision of education to the special children, urged upon both provincial and federal governments for taking concrete steps in this connection.
He said they have institutions for special children but such educational institutions are imparting training and education to the special kids living a life of special children, we rather bring them to children of normal stream. "We have to change this trend and instead of imparting training and education to the special kids, efforts should be taken in providing education based on changing the mindset of special children so that one day they would become normal children," he explained.
He said that all over the world such institutions were established for special children and working on the line to enable those special children to live a normal life by providing them physiotherapy, psychotherapy, speech therapy education exclusively meant for special children so that they could become normal children after some time.
Dr Mehboob Ur Rehman disclosed that they have established a model public school which enrolled both normal and special children only to overcome the deprivation of the special after training and education.
There are special classes for special children wherein the teachers and experts in physiotherapy, psychotherapy, speech therapy are imparting knowledge based education to the special children. The result is very productive and satisfactory in terms of bringing special children to normal life.
He said recently experts in the field have been invited for a workshop organised under the supervision of Habib School of Physiotherapy and Mehboob Medical Institute wherein the experts share their knowledge about physiotherapy, psychotherapy, speech therapy.
