All offices of the Headquarters including the office of the Director General, Punjab Emergency Service, offices of the Deputy Director (HR), P&D, Finance, Community Safety, Social Welfare, Provincial Monitoring Cell, Public Relations and others have been shifted to the Emergency Services Academy.
DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer while presiding over a meeting of Rescue Officers said that the Headquarters has been shifted in Emergency Services Academy in consultation with the Home Department, Government of the Punjab in order to ensure renovation of the dilapidated building of the Headquarters, which has become a potential threat especially in wake of upcoming rainy season. He, however, said shifting in a training institute will dovetail operation with training, which is the backbone of the Service.
On his first day in Emergency Services Academy, while memorising the past, he said that he felt dire need of a modern training institute to produce trained human resource to emergency services in Pakistan. He said that around 17000 rescuers and emergency professionals for Punjab, KPK, Baluchistan, GB, AJK and other areas/ organisations have been trained and passed out from this national centre of excellence in short span of less than ten years. He further said that on his request an international mentor Edward G Pearns is assisting Pakistan in producing an International Disaster Response Force. Later, he met with the participants of the International Training Course.
