The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed and fined numerous food outlets in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday on the charges of flouting hygiene rules, not marking manufacturing and expiry dates and improper measures against insects. The Shalimar Town team sealed a famous restaurant Fri Chicks situated in Y Block, DHA, on the charges of using expired burger bun, dirty freezers, not having manufacturing date on salad, using same oil for seven days for frying eatables and not having a tag on items and insufficient measures against insects.
The Gulberg Town team sealed Goga Naqeebia Channay Wala due to poor cleanliness, presence of cats in store room, placing eatables on floor, fungus on walls and using blue coloured drums for storing water. The same team imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 on Sarfraz Restaurant and Rs 3,000 on Potato Den restaurant for poor cleanliness.
The Allama Iqbal Town team imposed fine of Rs 7,500 Tooti Fruity in DHA Phase-IV because of not placing tags on eatables and poor cleanliness. Another restaurant was also fined Rs 4,500 for using substandard oil. The Samanabad Town team imposed a fine of Rs 12,000 on Lung Fung restaurant in DHA while Aziz Bhatti Town and Wagha Town teams jointly imposed fine of Rs 11,000 on Yummy 36 Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant on similar charges of poor cleanliness and others.
