Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT) in University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) have declared Nestlé MILKPAK free from any adulterants and therefore safe and fit for human consumption.
According to an announcement of the company here on Friday, MILKPAK was also analysed for heavy metals by PCSIR and no presence was detected. University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) lab results have also declared Nestlé MILKPAK free from adulterants.
However, UVAS Lab found presence of heavy metals in the sample of Nestlé MILKPAK though the level remained well within the safe limits as defined in food regulations. It is pertinent to mention here that some heavy metals can naturally find their way in the milk at various stages of the value chain through animal fodder, feed, water etc. Nestlé is conscious of these possibilities and being a responsible company has placed stringent quality checks at every stage of the value chain to ensure that our milk products are safe and fit for human consumption.
Our confidence stems from the fact that our products are routinely tested using state of the art reliable technology and equipment and has never been found to have deviated from prescribed norms, company maintained. On December 27, 2016 the Supreme Court showed satisfaction on Nestlé's position and appreciated the company's quality and standards. The court also appreciated the transparency displayed by Nestlé. The proceedings are under way and we have confidence in the Supreme Court. We will extend all necessary support and share all the data and facts transparently as and when the court requires, company added.
