Prices of most of essential kitchen items have witnessed a further reduction during this past week as compared to preceding week, according to the survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Saturday.
According to the survey, the price of tomatoes in the wholesales market has registered a further reduction of Rs 30 per kg from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per 5kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, whereas best quality potatoes price also reduced by Rs 5 per 5kg from Rs 130 to Rs 125, while normal quality potatoes reduced from Rs 100 to Rs 90 per 5kg. Potatoes in the retail market are being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg.
However, the price of onions went up by Rs 30 per 5kg from Rs 100 to Rs 130 per 5kg in the wholesales market, which is being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 30 per kg in the retail market. Ginger price in the wholesale market went up by Rs 100 per 5kg from Rs 400 to Rs 500, which is being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 100 per kg in the retail market, while there is no change in the garlic price, which is being sold at Rs 1,400 per 5kg in the wholesales market and at Rs 320 per kg against in the retail market. The lemon price remained stable in the wholesales market at Rs 300 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 80 per kg in the retail market.
During the week under review, prices of chicken witnessed a significant reduction in the wholesale as well as retail market as live chicken price in the wholesales market is being available with a reduction of Rs 800 per 40kg from Rs 5,000 to Rs 4,200, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 150 per kg. Chicken meat is being sold at Rs 240 per kg against Rs 220 per kg, while different qualities of fish are being available in the range of Rs 180 per kg to Rs 350 per kg.
Sugar price witnessed a reduction of Rs 270 per 50kg bag from Rs 3,470 to Rs 3,200 in the wholesales market, which in retail market is still being sold at Rs 77 per kg, while wheat flour has registered no change, and it is being sold at Rs 760 per 20kg bag in the retail market.
No change was observed in price of egg, which are being sold at Rs 130 per dozen in the wholesales market, while at Rs 136 per dozen in the retail market. Brinjal with a cut in price is being available at Rs 120-150 per 5kg in the wholesales market, while in the retail market, it is being sold at Rs 30-40 per kg, carrot price with a further reduction of Rs 30 per 5kg came down from Rs 160 to Rs 130 per 5kg, while in the retail market, it is being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Cucumber price went down from Rs 200 to Rs 150 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 50 per kg in the retail market. A pack of 8kg of radish is being available at Rs 100 against Rs 150 in the wholesales market, which is being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 25 per kg in the retail market.
Peas prices were found stable at Rs 220 per 5kg, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 55 per kg, kadu price was also found stable at Rs 200-250 per 5kg in the wholesales market, while in the retail market it is being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg. Karaila price is also stable at Rs 350 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 80 per kg in the retail market. Arvi price went down by Rs 50 per 5kg from Rs 300 to Rs 250 and it is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70 per kg in the retail market.
Cauliflower price went up by Rs 20 per 5kg from Rs 100 to Rs 120 per 5kg while cabbage price reduced by Rs 30 per 5kg from Rs 180 to Rs 150 per 5kg. Cauliflower is being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 30 per kg in the retail market, while cabbage is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Capsicum price further went down from Rs 400 to Rs 350 per 5kg, which in the retail is still being sold at Rs 80 per kg, and okra increased by Rs 300 per 5kg from Rs 300 to Rs 600, which is being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 70 per kg in the retail market. Beans price in the wholesales market has reduced from Rs 250 to Rs 200 per 5kg and it is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg in the retail market. According to survey, good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda per 5kg tin is being available at Rs 850, while normal ghee/cooking oil like Phool and Fuji brands are being available at Rs 130 per kg.
No change was registered in pulses' prices as daal mash is being sold at Rs 18,000 per quintal in the wholesales market, daal moong at Rs 11,000 per quintal, lobia Rs 9,000 per quintal, Masoor Rs 11,800 per quintal, daal channa Rs 11,500 per quintal and Kabuli channa Rs 13,000 per quintal. In the retail market, moong is being sold at Rs 135 per kg, lobia at Rs 115 per kg, Maash at Rs 200 per kg, Masoor at Rs 140 per kg, daal channa at Rs 145 per kg and Kabuli channa is being sold at Rs 160 per kg.
