"The operation against the sale and manufacturing of spurious drugs should be further accelerated and the concerned departments should utilize their utmost efforts to detect the dens of this unlawful business." This was stated by Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha while chairing a meeting to review the progress of the health and other departments regarding campaign against spurious drug.
DCO Salman Ghani, Additional Commissioner Coordination Khadim Jilani, Director Health Services Dr Zahid Malak, Secretary Quality Control Board Arif Shahzad, SP Madina Town Malik Jamil Zafar, EDOs Health, District Prosecutors, Drug Inspectors and DCOs of District Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot were also attended the meeting through video link. Divisional Commissioner said that CM Punjab was very serious for the complete elimination of drug mafia to save the human life and he had decided to take drastic measures to curb this menace. He urged upon the vigorous crackdown against the drug mafia and said that full legal force should be mobilized to arrest the killers of the humanity.
He directed that cases against the culprits involved in sale and manufacturing of spurious drugs should be got registered immediately and comprehensive challans should be presented before the concerned courts without any delay so that the accused could be got punished. He said that secret information should be collected about the dens of drugs mafia and coordinated strategy should be mobilized for successful operation against them. He said that proper awareness campaign should also be geared up for the information of the punishment and penalties for the elements involved in the business of sale and manufacturing of spurious drugs. He directed that the banners/steamers inscribed the details of penalties and punishments should be displayed on the conspicuous places of the districts of the division. He reviewed the individual performance of Drug Inspectors and directed them to produce best results in the operation against drug mafia.
DCOs of four districts told that drastic steps were being taken to curb the menace of spurious drugs. They said that the performance of the Drug Inspectors was being supervised regularly and actions were being taken against the medical stores involved in sale of medicines without drug license and cases were also being launched against the accused involved in the illegal business of spurious drugs and a number of factories had been seized which were manufacturing substandard bogus medicines.
