President of Pakistan Muslim League-Q and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Saturday the country was passing through a critical phase confronted with a number of challenges. "Be it any government; by doing whatever it desired, putting anyone in or out, showering favour or pulling down, cannot help overcome this critical situation. Whatever is needed is trust and endorsement of the people," Shujaat said while talking to media after cutting Christmas cake ceremony along with Christian leaders, here at the Muslim League House on Saturday.
Answering a question, Shujaat said, whether it is bench, chair or cot, Panama case has to be decided. To another query, he said that his party has played the role of opposition in a responsible way, whether it is PTI or Peoples Party whosoever comes out for the country, we will stand by them.
Replying to another question, he said those who marked anti-corruption day themselves do more corruption than others. Shujaat also said that he has never used word minority, we all are Pakistanis and should be proud of it. He said that during chief minister ship of Parvez Elahi in Punjab, Christian educational institutions were returned, while due representation was given to all in the assemblies besides special quota in jobs, separate ministry and provision of equal development funds. What we had done was our duty and if we got opportunity again will do much more for them, he said.
Bishop Yaqoob Paul and Bishop Sadiq by holding hands of Shujat Hussain announced their support for PML. Shujaat Hussain congratulated Pakistan Christian Party for affiliating itself with PML and said that in this way foundation of new era has been laid. He said Parvez Elahi during his tenure of Chief Minister had done a number of revolutionary works for these brethren whereas Senator Kamil Ali Agha and our parliamentarians always raised their voice for them. Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Ajmal Wazir, Engineer Shehzad Elahi, Mian Munir, Bishop Yaqoob Paul, Chaudhry Riasat, Liaquat Jan and Sajid Bhatti were also present.
