New Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid his first visit to the Corps Headquarters Peshawar and North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the CoAS visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar and North Waziristan Agency, where he was given a briefing regarding the security situation in KP, FATA and Malakand Division.
In North Waziristan, General Bajwa was briefed by the local formation commander on various issues, including security situation in the Agency, repatriation and rehabilitation of temporary displaced persons (TDPs) and development work in the area. In his address, the Army Chief said that war against terrorism would continue with a focussed approach and it would be taken to its logical conclusion, which is the total elimination of terrorism from the soil. "War on terror to continue with focussed approach to logical conclusion. Will move ahead of gains already made so far- CoAS in Psr/NWA," tweeted Army Spokesperson Lieutenant General Asim.
General Bajwa vowed that no terrorist of any hue would be allowed to come back. He paid tributes to the tribes, officers and personnel of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Constabulary (FC), Levies and the police. The CoAS maintained that security of the country against external and internal threats would remain his ultimate objective. He also underscored the need for expediting the pace of raising new FC wings to improve Pak-Afghan border management effectively. General Bajwa said that TDPs' return should be completed within stipulated time, and they should be assisted in all ways to resettle respectfully. Upon his arrival in Peshawar, the CoAS was received by Corps Commander 11 Corps Lieutenant General Hidayat ur Rehman, who accompanied him to North Waziristan.
