Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 197,327 tonnes of cargo comprising 157,967 tonnes of import cargo and 39,360 tonnes of export cargo including 5,983 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 157,967 tonnes comprised of 47,986 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,069 tonnes of general cargo; 27,752 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 11,431 tonnes of coal; 12,862 tonnes of DAP; 3,459 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 80,160 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,360 tonnes comprised of 27,543 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 11,717 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 3,217 tonnes of rice and 8,500 tonnes of talcum powder. As many as 5,983 containers comprising of 3,260 containers import and 2,723 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,117 of 20's and 1,008 of 40's loaded while 25 of 20's and 51 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 685 of 20's and 380 of 40's loaded containers while 318 of 20's and 480 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There was one ship namely FPMC-17 carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were two vessels viz. ER Maden and Chang Hang Pu Hai carrying fertiliser and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Kota Kamil, Taroko, MSC Capri, MT Karachi and Nord Missouri carrying containers, oil tanker and talcum powder respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday while another ship namely Hermione carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Thursday.
There were four vessels Sea UAFL Zanzibar, Wan Hai-506, Torvanger and Bright World carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six vessels viz. Batam Trader, Xin Zhang Zhou, MT Quetta, Lady Venus, Global Hope and Ikan Senyur carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
