Balochistan High Court on Monday issued arrest warrants for former president Pervez Musharraf in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case. An anti-terror court had earlier acquitted the former president in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case. An appeal had been filed against the judgement in the High Court. During the course of hearing, the court expressed its resentment over the absence of the accused and asked the lawyer how he was representing a proclaimed offender.
The lawyer submitted that former President Pervez Musharraf wanted to appear before the court but due to security reasons he could not do so. Bugti, former governor of Balochistan and Baloch leader, was killed in 2006 in an explosion at his hide-out cave. In 2012, Musharraf along with other high ranking officials were issued arrest warrants in the murder case by an Anti-Terror Court. However, Musharraf was granted a bail due to lack of evidence and his ill-health.
