Following the terrorist attack at a shrine in Balochistan, Islamabad police have enhanced security around all the shrines in the federal Capital, besides arresting 137 suspected persons, including six Afghans, during a search operation.
A senior police official said on Monday that police have increased deployment at all shrines located in various parts of the city and special vigilance is being maintained through checking of devotees. The city police have also increased patrolling in the city in general and around religious places in particular.
He said that Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued directives to all SHOs to beef up security of shrines located in their jurisdiction and conduct strict checking of devotees through metal detectors. He said that city police along with Rangers personnel conducted a joint search operation in Tarnol, Sang Jani and other adjacent areas of the federal capital and arrested 137 suspects including six Afghans. He said that security personnel also conducted checking in slums, inns, hotels, restaurants and Afghan habitats. The purpose of this joint operation was to ensure foolproof security and keep a vigilant eye on the suspected elements.
