Hardships of commuters multiplied with the addition of a protest by the employees of Water Management Association on The Mall who joined the young doctors at the Chief Minister Secretariat on Thursday.
Resultantly, a huge traffic jam was observed on The Mall that spread out to the adjacent main arteries like Jain Road, Davis Road and Ferozepur Road. The commuters were left with no option but to wait for traffic clearance for hours. Schoolchildren also faced trouble due to the worst traffic mess as there was no way out for school vans to take them to their destinations well in time.
The commuters, motorists, parents and citizens criticised both the protesters and the government for causing troubles for them. They also found scuffling with the protestors in order to get out of their sit-ins.
The members of Young Doctors Association also blocked The Mall since last two weeks to pressurise the government on their demands.
