Kashan Umar and Hamza Roman took berth into the U-12 category final of the ongoing First Khurshid Alam Khan Memorial Tennis Championship being played here at Qayyum Sports Complex Saturday. In the first semi-final of the Under-12 category Kashan Umar defeated Hamid Israr by 6-2 and 6-4 in a thrilling match. Kashan Umar got the first set very easily but Hamid Israr, son of international Tennis player Israr Gul, gave tough resistance to Kashan in the second set wherein both stretched to 4-4 before Kashan Umar got the second 6-4.
In the second semi-final Hamza Roman, the current national top ranking player, did not take much time in eliminating Shahsawar by 6-2 and 6-2 and moved to the final. In the Under-14 category semi-final Shoiab Khan beat Abdullah by 6-1 and 6-1 and moved to the final to setup clash with Aqib Umar. Aqil Umar defeated Hamza Roman in the second semi-final, the score was 6-2 and 6-3. It was the Men singles in which unseeded Saqib Umar beat Yousaf Khan by 6-4 and 6-2 and qualified for the final. The final will be played on November 14. Former Provincial Minister for Sports, Aqil Shah will grace the occasion as chief guest. Director Anti-Corruption Zaib Ullah Khan, Commandant Elite Force Muhammad Saleem Khan Marwat, Director Operation Tariq Mehmood and President KP Tennis Association Tahir Khan will also witness the finals.
