Eid holidays: 'number of visitors to Lahore Zoo continuously decreasing'

The number of visitors to the Lahore Zoological Garden during Eid holidays has been continuously decreasing since last three years. As many as 36,000 people visited Lahore Zoo during first two days this year as compared to 38,000 in 2015 and 45,000 in 2014. The Lahore Zoological Garden Director, Shafqat Ali shared these figures with the Business Recorder here on Thursday
He expressed the hope that the number of visitors would pick up in coming days, when people who had gone to their native cities would return to Lahore. "We have earned over Rs 1.2 million during the two Eid holidays this year", he added. It may be added that the zoo is one of the biggest attraction sites for the visitors during the Eid holiday. Moreover, most of the people prefer to visit parks because of the fresh air and cheap way of spending their time.
Meanwhile, according to the Punjab Wildlife & Parks Department, 47,000 people visited the Lahore Zoo and Lahore Safari Zoo during first two days of Eid-ul-Azha. Both the recreational places earned Rs 1.56 million, said DG of the Department Khalid Ayyaz Khan. Lahore Safari Zoo was visited by 10,680 visitors and it gave Rs 235,290 income to the department.
