Flood-hit areas of Chitral: relief package for each affected family demanded

Expressing grave concern over non-provision of basic facilities to the flood-hit people of district Chitral, a social activist and Naib Nazim Union Council Malakandher Muhammad Jamil Chitrali demanded of the government to announce a comprehensive relief package for each affected family of the district.
Talking to reporters on Saturday at Peshawar Press Club, he said that despite passage of a week to the recent devastated floods which had badly destroyed the district and specially Arason areas wherein communication system had totally damaged while residents also faced difficulties for searching clean water. But, he criticised the government had failed to mitigate the suffering of the flood affectees.
He added that the provincial government had announced Rs 300,000 to the each affected family, which he termed as insufficient for rehabilitation of their damaged infrastructure, and asked to increase the amount to Rs 1 million. Jamil Chitrali said the devastated floods that hit mostly areas in Arason during the last days of holy month of Ramazan, but, he lamented the authorities didn't response swiftly, due to which flood affectees are compelled to live in open-sky.
Similarly, he said that the government had ignored Chitralis in flood occurred last year while same situation was created which raised miseries among the masses of the areas. He maintained that government announcements for supporting the needy remained only to statements and reluctant to give practical shape to it. He informed that Arason was a very congested area but had lack all basic facilities, adding around 35 people had been died and nearly dozens of homes, completely washed away the recent flash floods.
Criticising the KP Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), he said the authority has neither start any activity and nor establish emergency office in the flood-affected areas of Chitral while, he added it was also lacking active meteorological system to inform the about precautionary steps before any floods situations.
