The long journey of Pakistan People's Party towards democracy and public welfare continues unabated. The Party's struggle, since creation of Pakistan, is studded with unprecedented sacrifices. It was the untiring efforts and vision of PPP founding Chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto that gave Pakistan a dignified and respectable status in the world.
It was his unmatched sagacity and character that forced the world's commentators and intellectuals to say that Bhutto won a lost battle on a table. The PPP founding chairman, by following the party's manifesto, strengthened national institutions. He not only boosted morale of the armed forces but also enhanced its capability to make it impregnable. When India disturbed balance of power in the region, it was Bhutto who raised the issue at international level, and took solid steps internally to make Pakistan strong and undefeatable.
Bhutto's vision helped the nation in getting united, and enabled Pakistan to stand on equal footing with the world. He brought all communities into the mainstream and reorganised them by shunning all differences to weave a strong knot of nationhood. The charismatic leader slogan for "equality and justice" bore fruit and his clamour for "love with the motherland" helped the nation emerge victorious on all fronts. The PPP emerged as the only representative party of the federation and the nation sealed this fact by voting the party into unprecedented victory in the general elections. The entire nation, even today, is thankful to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for his vision and perseverance.
This fact can be judged from a recent Gallup Survey, which reveals that the nation still holds Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in high esteem, who with the wisdom of hindsight, put the country on the path to a future nuclear power. The nation knows that had Bhutto not undertaken building nuclear capability, India would have attacked Pakistan again and again with the aim to destroy and consume us. Today again, India has resorted to unprovoked hostilities on Line of Control and Working Boundary, with the aim to fulfil her nefarious designs by moving the Pakistan Armed Forces attention away from sponsored terrorists whose back has been broken by the valour sons of the motherland.
PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari acknowledges Pak Army's commitment, bravery and love for the motherland and paid his tribute to the armed forces for their unmatched sacrifices being rendered for the protection of Pakistan.
The PPP has always been subjected to media trial on the behest of anti Pakistan elements. At begin this "vicious campaign" grieved Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and he spoke out against "the twisting of facts." Shaheed ZAB started publishing his own newspaper, with the aim, to inform the masses about his stance in a true sense and counter this "malicious drive." The abuse and misuse of freedom of expressed and press, today, has no precedent in the past and the trend of "twisting facts, strangulating the truth and political mud- slinging is being promoted. Today, the biasness and partiality of media has become visible to everyone.
Since its foundation, the PPP has been facing media trials and a "specific mindset" that attributes every wrong to the party to create a gulf between the party and the masses. It has been a tradition of "these people" to paint and show patriotic and pro-Pakistanis as enemy and traitors by using the media as a tool.
Such elements have got excess to the institutions of national integrity and stability by posing themselves as patriotic, though they are the facilitators of terrorists, which has been a tragedy of the country. The "natural allies" have unleashed their conspiracies to push the PPP to the wall to meet their ulterior goal of weakening the country. These elements want to "enrage" the PPP to seek blessings of their foreign master against who are the enemies of Pakistan. But they should mind that the PPP of ZAB loves Pakistan, it institutions and the masses and derive its strength from facing challenges for the prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
The Pakistan People's Party always gives preference to sovereignty of Pakistan and unity of the nation. Its leadership laid down their lives for strengthening and dignity of the country and this mission is continued. The party can never think of shaking hands with those who attempted to sell national pride and dignity, though this stand has created multiple challenges for the party. The PPP has been fighting a war to rid the nation of this "barbaric enemy." On the other hand, this mindset has been using the media in a way to pit the PPP against the national institutions of integrity and solidarity. The people of Pakistan, undoubtedly, endorsed and support democracy and those working for the sovereignty and solidarity of Pakistan which has been backed by the armed forces in unequivocal words. That's why "the forces of gloom and doom" have started hatching new plots to marginalise the PPP. It a time when the armed forces have been fighting "cunning and dangerous" enemy at both external and internal fronts, the masses support for the valour forces is not lesson than victory which has exposed failure of the anti-army plots.
All attempts of "the enemy" to pit the national institutions against the PPP have been rendered sterile and the masses unflinching love and support has improved the image and performance of the national institutions. The PPP, by delivering on its public mandate, has been making all-out efforts to remove all hurdles from the way for armed forces and other law enforcement agencies.
Despite all these facts, the conspirators have hell-bent on cooking up baseless stories to create an atmosphere of mistrust and distort the image of PPP through new concocted theories. However, the masses are well aware of the fact that the stability of Pakistan and PPP are inter-linked and the party will remain and serve Pakistan forever. The PPP stand by the armed forces to give the gift of peace of the masses and bring back smiles to their faces. The PPP partnership with the valour armed forces has been proving fatal for the terrorists and their facilitators that why they have started a campaign to keep the army unaware of the facts. These conspirators are now machinating new plots to destroy national unity and there is a need to thwart all such plans.
