Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday imposed heavy fine on Mcdonald Restaurant situated on M M Alam Road of the provincial metropolis on the charges of rancid oil and presence of starch in ketchup while another famous food outlet Ajmer Foods (Pvt) Limited (Cakes & Bakes) situated on Multan road was sealed store, chillers and biscuit section because of presence of insects, absence of manufacturing and expiry dates and presence of insects in different products.
According to the Authority sources, its teams continued their efforts against those selling unhygienic or adulterated food to the consumers and sealed and fined many food outlets on Monday. Those which were sealed included Malmo Bakers in Chung area because of absence of expiry dates, presence of hairs in cake rusks, inappropriate tagging and flies. Shaheen Shinwari Restaurant of Johar Town was also sealed because of using dirty freezers, dirt on floor, not covering food items, using dirty utensils, open drainage and old meat.
Kashmir Dry Fruit and Gosha-e-Farhat Store in Ghalib Market were sealed because of working without licence, ice land juice was imposed heavy fine for using rotten fruits and bad cleanliness situation. Wings restaurant of M M Alam Road was also fined heavily because of using the same oil for frying many a times and workers working with jewellery.
Ravi Town team of the Food Authority got registered cases against Ghusia Milk Shop, Fazal Kariana Store, Ittefaque Bakers and Hajveri Store for opening their businesses again without permission of the Food Authority. Owners of these outlets were arrested and shops were sealed again. Moreover, Inayat Ullah Khan Tea Store, Talib Dehi Bhallay and Sher Makkah Stores were sealed for not having licenses.
Al Raheem Food (Daw Bread Manufacturing Unit) situated in Kot Lakhpat Industrial area was also fined heavily because of unhygienic conditions. Punjab Food Authority teams of Nishtar Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Samaabad Town, Aziz Bhatti Town and Wagha Town also carried out actions against food outlets violating hygiene rules and sealed many and fined others heavily.
