Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that the killing of two brothers at the hand of Punjab Police would not have happened if the killers involved in Model Town massacre had been punished. Talking to reports after condoling with the family of the victims, Imran held Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif responsible for the gory incident.
He said that the PML-N had recruited the goons in Punjab Police in order to oblige their blue eyed MNAs and MPAs, which has resulted in killing of two brothers. "This is the reason Punjab police is openly killing innocent people and the government instead of punishing them protect them, which is unfortunate," he regretted. Imran who was accompanied by PTI senior vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Awami Muslim League president Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, MPA Arif Abbasi, MPA Raja Rashid Hafiz, strongly condemned the police barbarism and demanded to give the cops involved in the killing exemplary punishment.
He came down hard on [provincial government of Punjab, and said the police is busy in protecting their masters instead of protecting the lives of the citizens due to which the whole province has turned into a police state. He recalled that the Punjab Police brutally killed 14 innocent people and injured over 100 in Model Town and numerous such other incidents of police highhandedness, as the government has given a license to kill innocent people, which will not last any longer.
"Enough is enough and this barbarism must and we want to make it clear that killers no matter how influential they are must be brought to book," he warned. It is not the killing of only two brothers rather it is like killing of the whole family as the whole family has been made handicapped as they were sole breadwinner of the family, he said, adding where Shahbaz Sharif who claims to be Khadim-e-Aala. "The Sharifs duo are responsible for the killing of two brothers and we want justice," he added.
Imran said that even dictatorial regimes were far better than what the PML-N government has been doing in the name of democracy, adding the police has been politicised and they kill whoever they like, which has turned the police stations into 'terror stations'. Imran Khan, who defeated Hanif Abbasi of the PML-N from NA-56 in 2013 general elections, demanded the government to bring the killer cops to book before it is too late.
He also announced that his party would take part in protest demonstration of Pakistani Awami Tehreek of Tahirul Qadri on June 16 against Model Town massacre. The PTI supporters chanted 'go Nawaz go' slogans against Sharif brothers and Punjab police outside the residence of the victims when Imran arrived for condolence with the bereaved family.
