Acting VC Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili formerly handed over the charge to Professor Dr Abida Taherani. She was presented rose flowers and bouquets on the occasion. Talking to the reporters, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abida Taherani said she wanted to make the SU a model university in the country, adding that her priority was to provide quality education to students.
Dr Taherani further said she wanted to create the best possible atmosphere for achieving excellence and make the administration efficient, transparent and adaptable to e-governance. She said she had plans to train newly appointed teaching and non-teaching staff in order to get required goals. The Vice Chancellor said she would create opportunities for students to learn in a modern way with fully equipped class rooms.
She said she would establish a new department named liberal arts so that the students express their point of views without any hindrances therein, adding that University-Society interface centre and University-Industry interface centre would be set up in the campus in a bid to interact with society and attract the attention of the entrepreneurs to the trained students of the varsity. Dr Taherani appealed to the teaching and non-teaching staff to dedicate themselves to develop the university.
