ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif Tuesday claimed that PML-N would contest and win the general election 2018 on the basis of its performance in last five years.

We had delivered a lot during previous tenure and overcame power and gas load shedding, eliminated menace of terrorism, improved infrastructure, health and other sectors to facilitate masses, he said talking to a private news channel.

He said the party had fulfilled all promises made during the general election 2013.

Khawaja Asif said the performance of PML-N was appreciable in all constituencies of the country. “I was elected four times Member National Assembly (MNA) with support of people of Sialkot.”

To a query, he said after returning to Pakistan, former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would attend huge gatherings to carry out election campaign, which would yield positive results in the election.

Sympathies of people were with Nawaz Sharif and his political party, he stated.

He said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had awarded tickets to turn coats and questioned that what kind of change they would bring in the country. PTI ideologist workers were disappointed due to such decisions, he alleged.

PTI leader Usman Dar said his opponent Khawaja Asif was elected four times MNA but did not deliver for the development and welfare of Sialkot.

No standard hospital and technical university were constructed in the constituency, he said and added that after wining the election, he would work for the construction of hospital and university in Sialkot to provide relief to masses.

He alleged that PML-N did rigging in the general elections 2013 but PTI was now going with full preparations in the election and its vote bank was intact throughout the country.
