Tribunal adjourns hearing of Imran’s petition against nomination papers' rejection

ISLAMABAD: The appellate tribunal Tuesday adjourned the case of rejection of nomination papers of Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan from NA-53 till Wednesday.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard Imran's petition against rejection of his documents by the NA-53’s returning officer.
The tribunal at the same time also heard another petitioner Haroon Arshad Rashid, who contended that Imran Khan had concealed his tax details in 2013 elections’ nomination papers. He claimed that the PTI chairman had hidden facts in the last election and that was why he was not an honest and righteous person.
The court issued a notice to Federal Board of Revenue officials seeking assistance pertaining to the matter.
Responding to the petition, Imran Khan's counsel Dr Babar Awan argued that the applicant was misstating the facts as the issue raised by him had a separate punishment in the law.
Pointing out the disparity in applicant's statements, Babar said he mentioned himself a voter of NA-53 in his application but told the court on inquiry that he was a voter of NA-54.
