SC dismisses plea seeking Aafia's repatriation from US

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed Fowzia Siddiqui’s plea seeking repatriation of her sister Aafia Siddiqui from the United States.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar dismissed the plea after hearing the arguments placed by the litigants.
During the course of proceedings, the chief justice observed that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had no authority to direct Americans and ordered the applicant to approach the US court regarding her grievances.
He said the court had taken up the matter only to know as to whether Aafia was alive or not. The court could not do anything in the matter as it had come into its knowledge that she was alive, he added.
Fowzia Siddiqui along with her plea also submitted the report of Pakistan's consul general about her May 23 meeting with Aafia.
