Excise, Taxation dept. achieves tax targets

KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Minister for Irrigation, Inter-Provincial Coordination, Public Health Engineering, Rural Development and Excise and Taxation Mushtaq Ahmed Shah has said that the role of the excise department in collection of taxes is very important and the department has achieved its target of tax collection for the fiscal year 2017-2018.

He said this while presiding over a meeting at his office here on Monday, said a statement.

Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Aijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh and Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other Directors also attended the meeting.

Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh while briefing the caretaker Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Shah regarding the different components of the Excise and Taxation department said that besides collection of various taxes the department has also curbed the activities of the drug paddlers across the province.

Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Shah said that he would make utmost efforts to resolve the issues of the department adding that the officers should continue to work hard and give best results as they did in the past.

On the occasion, Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh informed the caretaker Minister that he would submit a detailed report of the tax collection soon.
