Google Chrome will now auto-download articles to read offline

Google Chrome has decided to make it easier for people to read articles offline when they lose internet connectivity or spend days disconnected.

Chrome realizes that it is frustrating for people having disrupted internet connections, ultimately halting their everyday routines. Thus, it has taken a step forward to let people access their favorite sites to get information without the need of internet connection by automatically downloading relevant articles.

Aiming for emerging markets, Google introduced a new feature for Chrome on Android users in over 100 countries including India, Indonesia, Brazil, and Nigeria. Android users can surf Chrome without the need of a constant internet connection. For this, when the user is connected to free Wi-Fi, Chrome automatically downloads relevant articles based on what content is popular in the specific user’s location, explains Google.

When the user is signed in to Chrome, they will get relevant articles based on their browsing history. Along with the user’s other downloaded content, this automatically downloaded content is then available for the user whenever they wish to access it, even when they are offline.

Users were previously able to download articles through third-party apps or by saving a page offline, but it required users to manually pick the articles. With this new feature, the user won’t have to pick as Chrome would automatically download the recommended articles based on location and interest.

The feature can be accessed by updating to the latest version of Google Chrome on Android in Google Play.
