Punjab's medical colleges: UHS preparing 55 master trainers on par with world standards
University of Health Sciences (UHS) has started preparing a cohort of 55 "Master Trainers" who will train the faculty members of Punjab's medical and dental colleges with latest teaching methodologies, learning techniques and evaluation procedures at par with international standards.
These master trainers, who have been selected from affiliated medical colleges, are being trained by eminent foreign experts. The project has been launched from the platform of Council for Collaboration in Medical Education, an initiative of UHS Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Junaid S Khan. The master trainers after the completion of their training will be responsible to conduct workshops on different aspects of medical education at their home institutions.
UHS Medical Education department organised a workshop for the master trainers on Tuesday. The workshop was facilitated by University of Liverpool's Director of the Postgraduate Programme in Medical Education, Dr David Christopher Morgan Taylor and University of Western Australia's Associate Professor in Medical Education, Dr Zarrin Siddiqui.
The workshop covered the topics of medical education including problem-based learning, team-based learning, simulated patients, technology-assisted learning and professionalism and ethics.
Professor Junaid Sarfraz Khan said that the project to prepare a cohort of master trainers is a step towards standardising medical education in Punjab.
