Here is how much World Cup tickets cost

As World Cup fever grips the globe, over 2.5 million tickets have already been sold for football’s penultimate tournment, with hosts Russia unsurprisingly topping the list by purchasing around a third of them.

However, despite not qualifying for the World Cup, the United States has been the second-biggest source of ticket sales, although they've bought around 10 times fewer tickets than the Russians.

“Most of them have gone to Russian fans (871,797), followed by fans from the USA (88,825), Brazil (72,512), Colombia (65,234), Germany (62,541), Mexico (60,302), Argentina (54,031), Peru (43,583), China (40,251), Australia (36,359) and England (32,362) – the top 10 countries from abroad. International demand accounts for 54pc,” according to FIFA.

On Friday, FIFA announced that further 120,000 tickets had been allocated after additional stock went on sale and they'll continue to be available right through until the day of the final on July 15.

Coming to the ticket prices, Category one tickets for group-stage matches cost $210, while Category 3 tickets for those games are half as much, which is $110.

Category 1 tickets increase to $245 for the round of 16, while they will cost $365, $750 and $365 for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and third and forth place match, respectively.

Meanwhile, pricing marks an increase from the 2014 World Cup, where the most expensive ticket for the final cost $1,100.
