Emerging all-rounder Faheem Ashraf believes that fitness has became the number one priority in Pakistan's cricket, which has become just as or way more important than giving best performance in the team.

“It is compulsory for us to pass the fitness test. We also try to surpass ourselves every time while training. Since now it is the trend in Pakistan cricket that you will only remain in the team if you train hard and are fit, it does not matter what your performance is,” said Faheem Ashraf, while talking to Ramiz Raja.

Speaking about the diet followed by the cricketers, Ashraf revealed that is very important to follow a strict diet otherwise, the training that the players go through will be wasted. “It is very difficult to control one’s diet, but we are playing for Pakistan, so one has take care of their it otherwise you will not be able to maintain the fitness level…. I have avoided eating [various foods such as] oily dishes, rice,” Ashraf said.

On the work front, the youngster impressed many with his all-round abilities during the recently concluded two-Test series against England. Ashraf played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s success at Lord’s.

Pakistan will take on Scotland for the two-match T20I series to be played on June 12 and 13.
