Nawaz Sharif conducts nuclear tests despite external pressure

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Monday said former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif conducted nuclear tests in 1998 despite severe external pressure while refusing lucrative offers.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer here, he said Pakistan emerged as a strong state of the Islamic world after the nuclear tests. He said conspiracies were being hatched to destabilize the country.
“The country is facing a host of challenges, adding that owing to the economic policies of the incumbent government, Pakistan is going to become an economic power which has also conceded by all the top economic lending agencies,” he said.
He said Nawaz Sharif had made the country’s defence impregnable by conducting six nuclear tests in response to Indian nuclear explosions. “No one can dare to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity,” he said.
He said Pakistan wanted peace and good relations with all the neighboring countries but our wish for peace should not be considered as our weakness. “We are fully capable to defend our motherland,” he said.
He also paid rich tribute to all those Pakistanis who rendered their lives for the prosperity and defence of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Zafar ul Haq said Nawaz Sharif gave a great favour to the nation and country by conducting the nuclear tests.
He said Nawaz Shairf showed great courage and leadership to make Pakistan the first nuclear Islamic state.
