Lord’s hero Abbas 'idealises' Mohammad Asif

Pakistan superstar pacer Mohammad Abbas has said that he idealises Mohammad Asif and Glenn McGrath and tried to bowl like them.

Abbas, who played a crucial hand in Pakistan’s nine-wicket win over England at Lord’s, said, “My ideals are McGrath and after that in Pakistan [it is] Asif. I have played with him [Asif] and have learnt a lot from him. I try to bowl the same way he does and it helps me to succeed”

He thanked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for allowing him to play for Leicestershire by letting him come a bit earlier in England. “I would like to thank PCB for allowing me to come here a bit earlier to play for Leicestershire."

According to him, that match helped him boost his confidence and prepare himself. "The match I played gave me confidence and helped me to learn the length to bowl. It was quite beneficial along with the Ireland match," he said.

The 28-year-old was awarded Man of the Match for his figures of 8 for 64. "I enjoyed it a lot, Lord's a full house enjoyed very moment of it," Abbas added.
