PESHAWAR: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Javed Iqbal appreciating the performance NAB –KP expressed resolve that corrupt elements would be dealt with iron hands and nobody would be spared above law.

He was taking to NAB KP officers during his visit to NAB –KP regional office here, said a press release issued here Friday. Chairman NAB said that the bureau would ensure accountability of all and there would be no discrimination or fear to be accepted.

He advised NAB officers to become role models for other by opting self accountability, adding that the self accountability makes a person good. On the occasion DG NAB –KP Farmanullah Khan while giving brief the Chairman about the regional office performance, he said that in 2018 as many as 1996 complaints were received out of which 209 were verified, 68 inquiries were ordered and 10 were investigated. He said that in 2018, some 16 accused were arrested and 10 references were submitted in accountability courts.

The important cases included accumulation of assets beyond justified financial sources by MNA Amir Muqam and Captain (R) Safdar, District Nazim Peshawar case, leasing of Rs 9 billion to Captain (R) Safdary by Cabinet Division, Billion Tree Tsunami case, MPA Qasim Khan case, illegal appointments in KP Ehtesab Commission, misappropriation of funds in Khyber Teaching Hospital, use of KP government helicopter by PTI chief Imran Khan, ownership of 34 off-shore companies by Saifullah family, assets beyond resources case against PPP leaders Arbab Alamgir and Asma Alamgir and Malam Jabba lease case.
