The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) is considering taking legal action against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chief Javed Iqbal over probe into alleged money laundering against Nawaz Sharif.

During the PML-N's central executive committee meeting on Friday, Sharif condemned NAB's probe against him over allegedly laundering $ 4.9 billion to India. The ousted prime minister said that NAB has turned into a prejudiced department, local media reported. Sharif contended that if the NAB chief does not tender an apology, he would use legal options against him.

Narrative of Nawaz Sharif becoming strong: Asif

Sharif had called his party's central executive committee meeting to discuss the money laundering issue. He had said that the accusation of money laundering was too grave not to discuss.

The NAB chief ordered an investigation after he took notice of a report that was published by the World Bank two years ago. The report carried information that Sharif, along with some others, allegedly laundered $4.9 billion to India. The NAB chief had then ordered a probe into the matter.

However, after NAB initiated the investigation, the World Bank claimed that the report does not include any mention of money laundering nor does it name any individuals.

Following the announcement of NAB’s probe, Sharif had demanded that NAB chief should provide proof against him or resign.
