ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in Senate Ms. Sherry Rehman Thursday strongly condemned what she said the baton charge of journalists rally in the federal capital on World Press Freedom Day in the federal capital.
Speaking on a point of order in Senate, she criticized the attitude of police to journalist community in the federal capital.
Sherry Rheman said the media has won freedom of expression after long struggle.
The constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan guarantees freedom of press.
Leader of the House in Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq condemned police action against journalist community, saying the government believes ensuring freedom of expression and the House will be informed about the latest situation on Friday.
Chairman Senate directed Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb to inform the House about the situation.
