Promising Abbas Shoukat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stunned Israr Ahmad of Punjab in the final of the National Junior Age Group Under-19 Squash Championship played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Thursday. A new entrant Abbas Shoukat recorded victory against former U-15 British Open-2012 Champion and Milo Cup 2012 winner in the straight sets, the score was 11-8, 11-2 and 11-4. Abbaas Shoukat did not give much time to Israr Ahmad of Punjab to settle down and thus marched into victory.
Abbas Shoukat showed tremendous length against his strong rival Israr and most of the time dominated the match. Abbas Shoukat went for long rallies, putting Israr Ahmad in the back of the court with some fine forehand and backhand smashes.
Israr tried his hard specially at 11-8 before levelling the tally 4-4 and 5-5 but he was failed and thus Abbas Shoukat won his first title. Jubilant Abbas was the semi-final loser in Asian Championship and Roshan Khan Squash Championship, both held at Karachi.
In the Under-17 Asian Championship and recently winner of the US Junior U-17 title, Kashif Asif defeated Sumaid Rashid of Punjab in straight sets, the score was 11-3, 11-7 and 11-7. It was also a one-sided affair and Kashif Asif, a former British Junior Under-13 Champion in 2013, did not give much room to his rival Sumaid Rashid to strike back.
