HARIPUR: Nine power generation units of Tarbela dam were shut down on Wednesday due to low water level and the power production capacity reached to its lowest.
Tarbela Dam officials said the water level of Tarbela dam remained 4 feet above dead level which is 1388.24 feet, whereas only five power generation units were producing 204 megawatts electricity that were not working with full capacity either.
The officials disclosed that owing to minimum water inflow in the dam, the capacity of Tarbela power production has reduced from 3478 megawatts to only 204 megawatts.
Water inflow in the dam was 35300 cusecs while outflow was 40000 cusecs feet dam officials stated adding that owing to the low inflow of water we have decreased the outflow in Ghazi Brotha and Indus River.
A huge cut in power generation has increased the load shedding and water supply for Kharif crop has reduced that may affect crops in the Punjab and Sindh provinces.
