Almost every smartphone now comes with virtual assistants, whether it is Apple’s Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana or Amazon’s Alexa. A company conducted a research against these four major assistants and the results showed Google Assistant defeated all.

Marketing company ‘Stone Temple Consulting’ performed a test of the four major virtual assistants around the world - Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa and Cortana. The results showed that Google Assistant is the most efficient virtual assistant ever, whereas Apple’s Siri is the last. Microsoft’s Cortana came in second position and Amazon’s Alexa was ranked third.

As per Android Authority, the analysis was done on two metrics - how many questions will the assistants answer and how many of those questions were answered completely and were accurate. For the experiment, the testers delivered 24,710 queries.

Google’s Chat to compete with Apple’s iMessage

The results demonstrated that Google Assistant’s smartphone app answers more questions and give more accurate answers than the rest. Microsoft’s Cortana came in second with results were not too far off from Google’s Assistant. Amazon’s Alexa performed fairly well in answering accurately but lacked when it comes to attempting answers. Apple’s Siri was ranked last since it lacked way behind when attempting answers, but did just fine when answering correctly.

However, when compared to last year’s ranking, Google Assistant did not improve much. On the other hand, Alexa showed a strong improvement since last year.

Moreover, a details were also analyzed depending on how many of the responses are jokes. All personal assistants do tell jokes in response to some questions. Where Siri used to be at the top for cracking jokes in 2017, the position is now taken by Alexa in 2018. While Cortana and Alexa saw a rise in 2018 responses, Google Assistant and Siri saw a huge decline.
