India contacted Pakistan before informing media about 'surgical strikes': Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed that India conducted surgical strike in 2016 and also tried to contact Pakistan before making the news public but Pakistan did not answer.
During the 'Bharat ki Baat, Sabke Saath' event in London, PM Modi said that they conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) and even informed Pakistan after continuous attempts to reach it.
"We were calling them since 11am but they were scared to answer the phone. At 12 we spoke to them and then told the Indian media," PM claimed, local media reported.
Back in 2016, India claimed that it conducted surgical strikes against Pakistan but the latter rejected such news. A statement by Inter-Services Public Relations confirmed the death of its soldiers but had rubbished India's claim of surgical strikes.
Meanwhile, on his visit to London, Modi was met with protesters holding playcards reading 'Modi go home' with Sikhs and Kashmiris holding aloft flags. Protesters also tore an Indian flag off a pole at Parliament Square.
PM spoke about several rape cases of but avoided latest case of Asifa, a Muslim minor from Indian occupied Kashmir who was gang raped and murdered. The rape had sparked outrage in India with people demanding justice for her.
