Bilawal terms Multan as political centre of PPP

MULTAN: Chairman, Pakistan People Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed Multan as political centre of his party.

Addressing a public meeting at Qadirpur Raan on Saturday, he said his party would make South Punjab a province for which PPP raised voice in the past.

He said the city had strong ideological and political relations with the Pakistan Peoples Party. Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave ticket to Mukhtar Awan, who defeated many landlords of the region, he added.

Similarly, labourers of colony textile mills also rendered sacrifices to save ideology of Bhutto for the rights of labourers, Bilawal said.

He counted number of projects completed by the PPP for the region including Multan International Airport, Head Muhammadwala, provision of gas to Qadarpur Raan, Rajanpur-Rahim Yar Khan Bridge and many others.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also remarked that PPP enhanced wheat support price from Rs 500 to 1200 which facilitated rural economy.

He said PPP, during its tenure, launched safe drinking scheme and poverty alleviation programme to facilitate the poor.

Bilawal Bhutto informed that PPP made one of the biggest cardiology hospitals of South Asia in Karachi.

The cardiology hospitals were also being constructed in some other cities including Sukkur and Hyderabad.

In his address, former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said whenever PPP came into power it worked for facilitating the poor.

Earlier, the chairman PPP was received by Yusuf Raza Gilani at Multan International Airport.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated Bilawal House in Multan. He also inquired about the health of PPP leader Habibullah Shakir at his residence.

He inaugurated a membership camp of his party at the residence of former MPA Malik Arshad Raan in Qadirpur Raan.
