Pakistan’s bowling all-rounder Umiad Asif has made a name for himself in the cricket circuit after his impressive showing at the recently concluded third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Asif, who represented the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the T20 tournament, ended his stint at PSL with 13 wickets in 12 matches. The 33-year-old has now set his sight on representing Pakistan on the international stage.

“To play for Pakistan has always been my dream. I have been working hard before but without sounding too full of myself, after my good performances in the PSL, I feel that I have reached that level which should allow me to be selected for the national level,” said Asif, quoted PakPassion.

The fast bowler also spoke about an incident when he was told by Pakistan's fitness trainer Grant Luden that Asif didn’t have it in him to be fit for international level.

“During the PSL, Pakistan's fitness trainer told me as a joke that I didn’t have it in me to be fit for international level. But I told him I will come to the National Cricket Academy and show him that I can do that. Jokes aside, the focus is on representing Pakistan and all my efforts are directed towards this goal,” he added.

The third edition of PSL concluded after Islamabad United went on to beat the then defending champions Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in the final at National Stadium of Karachi on March 25.
